Community Scholars, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 locally run nonprofit corporation founded in El Paso in 1998. Our mission is to build young leaders through policy research and community service. Our vision is to cultivate intellectual and community capital for a stronger Paso del Norte region.
Since 1998, 272 students have participated as 1st and 2nd-year Scholars in 362 year-long internship opportunities that have provided mentoring, behavior modeling, higher education environmental exposure, and financial assistance in the final years of high school to successfully transition to higher education. 47 of those students have returned to El Paso to work as college supervisors.
